Jomson And Muktinath Trek - Holy Land Adventure Tours and Travels

Jomson And Muktinath Trek

Jomsom Muktinath Trek is a popular trek to a holy temple called Muktinath. To reach here you have to catch a flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. Then the trek begins to Muktinath. You can visit this temple at the foot of Thorong La pass by starting the trek to the remote villages of Kagbeni and seeing the apple orchards on the way with ChhairoGompa in Marpha village.

The trekking route takes you to the natural hot water spring of Tatopani and Ghorepani villages inhabited by Magars of Nepal. Along the route to Muktinath temple, you come to scenic places that have deep valleys, mountains and terrains, and jungle paths. The trek continues up to Ghorepani and a nearby secular spot at Poonhill. This is the hilltop that showcases the Annapurna Mountain range and gives the watchers a miraculous view of the snowy peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna 2 and 3, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, Tukuche, Lamjunghimal peaks. The trek brings you towards the deepest water gorge called Kali Gandaki and towards Ghasa, Marpha, Kagbeni to Muktinath. It is a holy spot visited by Hindus and Buddhist devotees. Muktinath god is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Hindus call it “ MuktiKshetra” while Buddhists call it ChumigGyatsa. This temple is built in Tibetan style and there are Lord Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma, and Kali idols. This place is mainly crowded on the day of the Janai Purnima festival in Nepal. There are 108water spouts running near the temple. Nearby is the Jwala Mai temple.

This trek makes you completely submerged with nature’s biodiversity. The entire landscape, the holy temple, and the worshipper’s customs make this a spiritual journey in Nepal. The best months for taking the Jomsom and Muktinath trek are February to June or between September to December. Monsoon and winter can be avoided.
